 INTEGRATIN- MAGNI, BASUALDO, MAGNETI, TORRE

This group is made up of Martina, Belen, Efren and Valentina. In this work we learn more about natural disasters (hurricanes, Unit 8) and also about Unit 2 of the book Gateway 2nd Edition.

Hurricane Nicole lashed Florida with winds, rain, and a dangerous storm surge, bringing flooding, power outages, and damage to homes.  The American Red Cross is supporting people with shelter, food and relief items as they continue to help those affected by the hurricane, which devastated parts of Florida six weeks ago.

As the storm made its way through the state, more than 460 people remained in 16 evacuation shelters run by the Red Cross and other organizations throughout Florida.  Of these, 3 were supported by the Red Cross and our partners.  Meanwhile, more than 630 people remain in six shelters run by the Red Cross and partners.

The Red Cross has provided more than 2,200 meals and snacks and has distributed comfort kits and other relief supplies to those in need.

As conditions improve, response efforts will be expanded.  Evacuation centers will transition to emergency shelters with vital services.  The Red Cross will also help with damage assessment.

Hundreds of people are still in Red Cross and partner shelters in Florida.  Thousands more rely on the Red Cross and other organizations for food, water and additional support.

Modular structures resistant to high winds could be built.
These can be assembled to creat a larger surface for children to play.
shelter, food, transportation systems, government organization, and social collaboration are needed to help.
